I have a T-Reproductions 129-B Terrace with a damaged lamp post. It has been snapped near it's base. I wish that this could be repaired by simply gluing it, but I fear that the lamp will then not function. Any thoughts on how best to remedy this would be greatly appreciated. Considering how exposed these lamp posts are, I'm certain this not the first time that this has happened.

Not having a Norm Thomas lamp casting I don't know if you can do this.

I repaired a broken Lionel 129 lamp casting with the use of 1/8" diameter brass tubing and conductive (electrically) epoxy. I vaguely recall that Loctite made some. All else fails google "conductive epoxy." BTW It ain't inexpensive.

Clean out the hole in the casting, top and bottom pieces.

Mix the epoxy. Smear it on the outside of the tubing. Smear some on both broken pieces. Insert tubing, by gently twisting the tubing, into the casting parts. Carefully align the broken surfaces so that they mesh properly. Lightly clamp the ends to cause the epoxy to ooze out of the repaired edges. Wipe this excess off with Q-tips.

Have fun.
