This is it, folks! The big one! My custom-painted Lionel model of a Detroit, Toledo, and Ironton Berkshire-type steamer with its matching tender and caboose. It all started when I discovered there were no models of the railroad’s Berkshires, and that made me feel disappointed. So, taking lessons from Richard Sherry on my Toy Train Revue birthday DVD’s, I used three and more coats of red, black, and white spray paint, some two-sided tape strips, two seperate-sized paint brushes, paint thinner, paint stripper, and some redrawn DTI logos I made to make this project possible.
Believe me: It wasn’t easy when I tried to get the logo and numbers to match the scheme, and it took me many weeks to get this right. But, I was disappointed when I didn’t get the logo to match the white-on-black paint scheme, the black paint ended up on the red paint on my caboose, giving it a Dalmatian effect. I hope you folks don’t mind. Nevertheless, I am proud of working so hard on this, and I hope Lionel should take notes in the future. Enjoy!
