Looks like this will be a winner. He also demos the VL 2-10-10-2.

I'll have to try and watch this tomorrow at some point in time. Thanks for posting Marty. 🙂
this video made me really want the Alaska , Pennsy or Army one but i can't fit it or lift it - that thing weighs about 20 pounds
maybe one day when the layout is started and i can go to the gym again
There was lots of good information in this DWD. The VL 2-10-10-2 is pretty cool but the Veranda was especially interesting. Dave demonstrated a lot of the new features and it looks like that thing will smoke, blow out the window, and stress the framework of your layout.
Dave did a good job at explaining it all. It would be great to get him some help so he didn't have to be camera guy and demo guy but it's still a good watch and Dave loads these with information. The "Air Raid Siren" on the Army Veranda should be a lot of fun!
Marty, that 2-10-10-2 was awesome, I'm really glad that it was in the catalog and that there wasn't much else(other than NYC Mohawk's) that interested me. I am really glad I chose to order this. Dave is always great explaining stuff. One thing I was curious about was the things that were sticking out of the engine in two spots(one up by the stack, other in the back). I'm guessing that it is something to help check on performance maybe on the smoke units. Love the sounds, love the swinging bell, love the look.

Dave explains they are for connecting into the engine boards without taking off the shell every time they want to reprogram it.
Interesting video - hope Dave does more!

Ah, think I may have skipped over that part a bit as I wanted to get to the meat and potatoes of his demo. Silly me. Thanks Marty(again).

He's been doing them for a while. These are the ones on YouTube. Not sure but I think 1-6 maybe on their Facebook Page.
Man. I want that turbine loco. The UP GTELs are one of my top 5 favorite locomotives. Too bad I only have O36 Curves on my layout. Oh well. Maybe in the future I will do a layout with O72s.
Veranda looks cool and I have it on preorder. I noticed in the video for the veranda that the turbine smoke did not shut off when it was stopped. Also Dave said the diesel sound and smoke run all of the time. This seems different than the TMCC version. The TMCC version would start off with the the diesel. And at a certain speed the turbine smoke and sounds would come on and the diesel smoke and sounds would stop. And when it got below the certain speed step, the turbine would shut off and diesel smoke would start. So it seems like the Legacy version differs from the TMCC version. Wondering if this mean that the turbine smoke will always be on unless you manually shut it off? And the 2-10-10-2 also looks awesome and can’t wait to get it.

Turbine smoke will start up and shut down with the sounds. I had the smoke units swapped in the unit in the video. So the "diesel" smoke unit in the rear was connected to the turbine smoke unit port on the PCB. Sometimes mistakes are made when you're scrambling to get ready for a show.
Correct on the diesel engine staying on. It will always be running, regardless of the state of the turbine. The reason we did this is because of the manual feature of shutting down the turbine using Aux3. If you shut down the turbine and the diesel engine is also off, then you have a dead power loco!
We've also tweaked the bell since the show. It had a pause every couple of dings. That's gone, so it'll be a consistent sounding bell.
Thanks for the explanation. Good to hear the turbine smoke will follow the turbine sounds. Awesome job! Just a thought; would it be possible that when you manually shut down the turbine smoke it would also turn on the diesel smoke so that you could still have the diesel come on and off like the earlier one? Probably too late for that anyway. But thanks for the cool upgraded locos!
Talking with Ryan at the booth the Verandas are in production and are scheduled to leave from overseas early December. Unfortunately with all that's going on he said he can't promise a 2021 delivery although they are doing everything they can to try. The shipping issues are working against them.
Personally I'm fine with that. Ryan was very candid about a lot of the questions we had.
I have to say Marty, Ryan was indeed pretty candid with his discussions.
Could the Verandas be showing up soon? The Lionel store doesn't show pre-order anymore and many are listed as "Few Left" or "Sold Out".
Hey @Conrail6358 or @Dave Olson can look in the loading dock and see!
Yup these started shipping out last week.
Wow I thought people would be getting excited about this!
Oh boy! I know what the next 10 forum topics will be I'll be looking forward to videos of these in action.

Well, I didn't order one, but if I did I would be happy. I really need to start watching demos with Dave more often because I need to see what he is "playing with".
I check my email 10 times a day waiting for that one from Trainworld telling me to pay for mine!!! Pumped

How about the acela's
That’s good news to me, but bad news for my wallet since I also just received the Visionline 2-10-10-2. But it’s exciting!!!!!
Looks like Legacy Station got their’s in:
Received the UP flag version of the Veranda from Charles Ro today. Either later today or tomorrow I'll open it up. Shipping weight listed as 20.8 lbs
Charlie just sent a notice to inform that mine has been shipped. Can hardly wait...
Just saw a YouTube video, horrible smoke unit Whine noise.
