I tried to search around and see if this topic had been brought up before, but has there been any indication that custom run part numbers will be searchable on the Lionel website like cataloged part numbers? In my inventory database I have a URL for each item that points to the Lionel website, and because the custom runs aren't searchable it leaves me trying to find a static URL from the dealer who was selling them. It's a valid Lionel part number, it would be nice if it linked to *something* even if there wasn't a picture included.

Has anyone heard anything? Or are the custom runs still just the wild west?

Pretty much all Lionel engines and rolling stock have an item number regardless if its in their catalog or an item a dealer offered. Whether Lionel shows parts available for that item is hit or miss. Lately even catalog items show few if any parts available for them. Many times if the item has been offered in the past then you might find a part from an older run that could be used.

In the past an item had to be past its warranty period before the public or even service stations could order parts.
