As some of you know, I like projects and cabooses that match my PostWar Lionel Diesel and Electric engines. So, putting these two likes together, here is my 16th custom caboose I just finished today.

I custom printed the decals too.

You can check out my other 15 custom cabeese by going to www.WarrenvilleRailroad.com and scrolling down to my 8/13/21 post (updated today) titled "One of a Kind Cabooses (Cabeese?)"

John, you did a great job on those custom cabooses and the custom paint jobs! When I got my first trains as a kid I had received three sets. (they were hand-me-downs) One was the The General which did not have a caboose, one was Lionel Lines and the other was a Minneapolis & St.Louis "The Peoria Gateway" set which had a Lionel PW FA and matching caboose. My favorite was the M&STL because it was the only one I had that was from a prototype railroad. I saw on your website you have one of those as well and it brought back some memories. I still have mine somewhere but it is really cool the way you improved yours.

So recently, I have been on a kick to find scale items from the M&StL. I found an Atlas double sheathed woodside boxcar from Atlas from sponsor The Public Delivery track and it is on its way here. Just this afternoon at the Greenberg show in Edison I found a 1937 40' AAR Single door boxcar also from Atlas. I wonder if a scale M&STL caboose has ever been done?

Anyway, did not mean to derail your thread. Thank you for the explanation above on how you did it. Great work.

Thanks Phil and I'm glad that you liked the website - I really enjoy sharing on it.

A M&StL caboose sounds interesting. My next one will be a Southern caboose in green to match my PW # 2356 Southern F3's. I've only seen prototypes (on the internet) in red, and I think that is the color modern Lionel made them in too

BUT, I like 'em matching my engines, IDC about prototype body styles or colors. I make and run what makes me happy.

Having fun with our trains is what it is all about, after all.

Amazing how the orange color of the caboose looks so different in the first two pictures. But well done.

I noticed that too Ben. I think it was the lighting in the different rooms that made the orange in the solo pic look darker. Even the blue looks almost black in the solo pic

The color is actually a pretty good match for the PostWar engine - I'm happy.

Great job on the cabooses. Making your own decals is great.  They are hard to find ready to go in the correct name and size.

The first caboose I did was to match a Loco too.  One gets tired of too many Lionel Lines cabooses.  I have been making loco matching caboose recently (well a year are so) too.

I do not think my HP Laserjet 1022 toner printer will do decals.  It is a great, inexpensive and reliable to print, black and white printer but not color.

Thanks Charlie,

My 20 year old HP Deskjet 6520 does a pretty good job.

The trouble is that the only toner cartridges I can find for it are on EBAY or AMAZON and are expired, sometimes by several years. So far, so good, though. I guess one day soon I'll have to breakdown and buy a new printer.
