I haven't done a restoration project in years, but when I saw the rusted pieces of this #18 Standard Gauge passenger car headed for the trash, I figured "what the heck... why not try".
While I don't have the patience or the skills to do a perfect restoration, it looks good now on one of my display shelves.

why not? that looks great, and way better than going to the dump. perfection can be over rated, make it too nice and you wouldn't want to run it for fear of scratches. I know several old car owners like that. the cars just gather dust in the garage.
my projects aren't perfect...but they make me happy with my accomplishments.

Would look good on my layout. You can work on some of mine if you feel the need to restore again. Mine are in a little better shape to start. I do commend you for your "rescue" mission. Well done.

Pennytrains, not exactly thrown out, but relegated to a big box of junk stored in the local train shop's "attic". Few items from that box ever see the light of day again....unless I do some digging while I'm helping out in the shop!

Thanks, Ron. Will do. That's why I didn't replace the frosted acetate on the lower part of the windows. As built originally, you had to remove the roof to see the seats and interior.
