18288 Lionel Odyssey System Demos ?

I have the regular Conrail# 4144 that I upgraded to TMCC for the sound.

One other unusual feature of these engines, the Railsounds board may not even be specific to the engine. The Railsounds in mine is from the PW Celebration Series Burlington GP-9.  The owners manual even states that the engine sounds many not match the engine.

Someone has changed the sound chip in yours. The Burlington GP-7 is about 8 or more years later. Only roadname I remember are Conrail SD70 12822, And this has the special Odyssey stamping on the cab. Year was 2000.

Todd - Thanks for clearing this up, yes the TMCC versions other than the Conrail are seldom seen or dont exist period as you mentioned.  The sound chip in mine is from the 18892 Burlington PW Celebration Series GP, which was right from the same time frame.

I bought mine new in a sealed shipping carton, so Im postive the chip was never

changed.

Noticed there were just 2 for sale recently on the buy/sell board. A BN 9412 traditional and a Conrail 4145 TMCC.

Todd, did the other demo's also have the Odyssey logo, too?

I guess I forgot there are 2 Burlington 2328 GP-7's Postwar celebration, and Conventional classics.

I have the SP 9801 SD70. Been a while since I have run it, I think mine has BN SD60 sounds, came with an Odyssey Dash 9 instruction manual. I spoke with former long time Lionel employee Chuck Horan a few years ago at Trainfest, he said you would be very lucky to find one with sounds that actually matched the engine. Mine does have an Odyssey logo, I think they all did.

As far as I know they all have the Odyssey logo on just one side.  Maybe Todd can confirm this. Two photos I've found online attached.

Actually the BN 9412 and CONRAIL 4145 for sale just recently, BOTH have TMCC and RS. I am purchasing them...

ZWPower13 - What I meant was the BN 9412 is a converted non TMCC/Signalsounds version, but yes it has full TMCC and Railsounds.  Be interesting to hear what soundchip

it actually has.

They all should have the Demonstrator logo, and only on one side of the cab. (I remember working with one of the decoration engineers to figure that out.)

If someone sees a Demonstrator marked CSX #8701 or even BNSF #9870 or SP #9800, I'd like to hear about it!

Well I received both Demonstrators! The Conrail is perfect, electro couplers, correct railsounds, smoke unit etc. Runs perfect!!

The BN has all the same, EXCEPT the wrong Railsounds Board. I opened it up, and it has the BN GP-7 Board, not the SD60. I am going to call Lionel tomorrow, to see if I can swap boards with them.

Both are super smooth runners with all the bell's, whistle's, TMCC, Electro Couplers and smoke!

Well, I called Lionel, and they do not have an SD60 BN Sound Board anymore. Any other suggestions?
