This is a 1930 film about the Leek and Manifold Railway, a British Narrow Gauge Railroad. Note the way standard gauge cars were loaded on a special narrow gauge car for transport. You can also catch a glimpse of a very short section of standard gauge track at the end of a siding at 3:31 where the standard gauge car is unloaded from the narrow gauge while it is loaded or unloaded. You gotta love narrow gauge, British or American!

The poor little Leek & Manifold Light Railway connected Waterhouses with Hulme End--a distance of 8 1/4 miles. It opened in 1904 and closed in 1934. It seemed to have only one locomotive-- a 2-6-4 tank engine No. 2, named the J B. Earle.

Luckily, in Wales, there is quite a bit of narrow gauge preserved and running, and that
can be ridden.
