I need the spur gear that goes on the motor shaft...not on the worm shaft.

I have a motor that is complete and functional with the proper machined slot cut on the mount for a 46 Berkshire...but it had a gear for a turbine. The Berkshire gear is smaller...I have a Berkshire I've been piecing together over time...and I need the gear...and I have a running engine.

One of the guys on here said it was a 726-029...I got a couple coming...they were cheap enough to take a chance...so we'll see.

Won't know for sure til they get here..probably this weekend.

I noticed something else about this motor...which makes me wonder...

I've had this motor assembled in two different configuration with two different armatures and 2 different fields...with no gear the end play is not controlled...but it seems to be either speed or temperature related...but at higher voltages the motor will start, run, and then stop...sit about a second...then repeat that cycle.

It's an interesting thing...and at this point I'm thinking the armature is just bouncing and breaking contact...but the engine completely stops before it restarts rather than being intermittent...if that makes sense

Interesting things happen when you tinker...

I have an armature for one of those motors that has the spline for the gear cut in the wrong position. occasionally the misplaced spline would catch in the bearing.

My armature came in a lot from Madison Hardware (Detroit). They were selling assorted armatures by the pound. I think the lots were 20 pounds each. Most of the armatures had some sort of defect. Many were repairable / usable. Others not. Some were new, others used. (So anybody buying replacement armatures needs to be careful).

On another occasion Madison Hardware (Detroit) did the same thing with locomotive wheels.
