The Summer 2017 issue of Classic Trains had a write up about (or is that "aboot?") the Confederation Train.

Couple of interesting side notes:

  • Canadian Pacific supplied most of the trainset.
  • Canadian National only supplied the trailing FP7 and steam generator car.
  • The CN unit rarely, if ever, was the lead unit.
  • Secondary airhorns played the first four notes of "O Canada,"  the Canadian national anthem.
  • There was also a Confederation truck caravan that went to locations the railway's didn't.
  • The color purple was used because "it had no political connections, is a powerful color and regal to boot." (Direct quote.)
