HI all I might be trading one of my engines for this one but the other party has run into this issue would anyone know what might be causing the problem listed below? Many thanks in advance Greg.

Well, mixed results.  I put the engine A MTH 2-10-4 on the track and fired it up with the following results:

It started fine, reversed direction, lights worked, whistle worked, sounds worked, bell worked, smoke worked, uncoupler worked. It ran a few feet and stopped. I t did not hit anything and there did not appear to be any shorts (no red light on the Z4000).

I reset the engine and added it back using the add engine command.   I then went through a start up shut down sequence 10 times and that worked fine.

I tried it again this morning and I am unable to get the engine to run.  It clicks as if it is receiving the signal. But will not move.

So, while I would still like to do the trade, unless you want to take it with the above understanding, I do not know what else to do.

MODS I hope I posted this in the correct fourm thank you .

Sounds to me like you may not have an electrical problem. You say it ran, OK, and then it stopped. Everything works. Just will not move. Check the side rods for binding. A big possibility is that the eccentric crank screw came loose and allow the eccentric to slip from the proper position and bind.

There is also the possibility that a wire broke off the motor but on a steam engine I think that is a long shot.
