Thanks for the heads up on the PS-2 hopper, I had no idea about this. I just ordered one.

For those that are passing on the Polar Railroad green and red offerings, I wanted to make you aware that the PS-2 hopper, from last year, is in fact blue.  Catalog images and many vendors show it green....it's not...it is the correct blue.  Lionel has never corrected the image on their website.

Sorry, I see I shouldn't have put correct blue, but rather blue.  Here is one on the FS forum showing the blue...  PRR PS-2

 ...

Just to be clear, that PS-2 hopper strikes me as more of a teal color.  It's not the green that was used for the Polar Railroad SD-80MAC of 2012 or the Polar Railroad round-roof box car from last year.  (At least those two matched each other well.)  Nor is it the blue that was used in the original Polar RR freight cars that coordinate well with the PE color scheme.  It's a completely new color introduced in the Polar Railroad line-up.  Hence, my earlier comment on the Polar Railroad identity crisis.

Now if Lionel ever resurrects the original blue/burgundy/gold color scheme for Polar Railroad freight and motive power, I'd love to see a FM Trainmaster in that color scheme rather than the red/green/silver colors.

For me I have been disappointed that Lionel has not made or even brought back some of it older Christmas Accessories.   Like there Santa Icing station or the Reindeer loader, for just a few examples.  They made a dump for presents and candy canes, why not a loader for them.  Any more ideas there folks that IF Lionel marketing would read this and may make for us in the future.  Oh I bought a new Santa Icing station last year on EBay for $78.00  but I have yet to find a ice car that goes with it..I did buy a NY Ice car to use.

Well, its not like trying to figure out what a piece of rolling stock from 1919 was painted.  We are talking about a movie you can buy for $5.99 buried in a bin at you local Walmart.

If you can't figure out the right colors for the Polar Express, you ARE the embodiment of laziness.

I have been hoping they make Christmas present loading station and make it like they did with the UPS package loading and ammo loading station. Instead of using ice paint the blocks to look like presents. But another Christmas themed icing station would be cool also. Forgive me if you already know this, they did make a car for that original Christmas one. It was I believe light blue and silver, and was decorated for Lionel ice or lionel cola, and it had a snowman on it. Don't have the product number handy, I'll try to find it, or maybe someone can chime in on here. In my opinion it was not a very Christmasy car at all. There is so much they can do with Christmas themed accessories. I'd also like to see a Christms version of the oil drum loader. Maybe label the cans for egg nog or reindeer feed.

Me Too!  Leaning toward the St Nicholas train myself. Wondering if anyone has gotten one yet and can answer the question about the British Tunes.  If you could post a video to Youtube, that would be great!   I was born in England, and am somewhat of an anglophile, and who is to deny the british kids their own Polar Express?!  I am also of German descent and we still practice gift giving on St Nicholas day.

So Far I haven't seen the St Nicholas Victorian Christmas rtr set included in any of the sponsors website inventories. I think it was scheduled for delivery this month and it's no longer on the shipping schedule which recently has sometimes meant it's about to be or has been shipped.

Here's a video from Legacy Station of the Thomas Kikade set

Wow, nobody, and I mean NOBODY pimps Christmas like Lionel

I'm holding out for the Bob Ross "Happy Painter" set.   Happy trees, happy clouds, happy stars... but somehow they have GOT to find a way to include his incredible 'fro!!!

(BTW, he was a pretty interesting dude.   Not what you'd expect if all you saw were his TV painting shows.   Google him...)

I guess it isn't the ideal medium for displaying Kinkade's artwork and probably why the set's initial offering includes the baggage and combination cars instead of the usual coaches offered in an rtr set. The graphics on the baggage and combination cars though broken up by the seams on the cars, are comparable in size to the ones on the previous Kinkade freight cars. The graphic on the observation car is extremely compressed. The theme of the paintings are about family traveling to holiday gatherings, which does make the choice of a passenger train more sensible. Offering an accessory in the lighted Covered Bridge with a larger painting allows one to more prominently display the artwork on a Christmas layout. I think the presentation on a passenger train is appropriate and if it's not others choice they have individual freight cars already available to them on the secondary market.

My concern would be; how, if at all Lionel might expand on the set in future years.

If it included a sound set of him softly describing the elements of the scenery as the train passes, I'd be in for a Bob Ross Happy Painter set.
