When visiting www.Lionel.com this afternoon and going to the For The Hobbyist Tab (all the way to the right), there sits an image of the UP 844...which, IMHO, may be Lionel's finest model of a Steam Engine.

HOWEVER (and this is why I'm posting), depending on where you drag your mouse, you can actually see "steam" coming out the firebox and the whistle/pop off valve area.

So.....does this mean Lionel will be releasing this model with these really neat features in 2014....or am I just pipe dreaming, waiting for Tax Season to arrive?

Still seems to be there.

Here's a snip.  you can just see a hint of the steam near the whistle in the second one.  (hard to screen capture)  I'll take back the part about it being a gif.  I looked at the source and didn't see an obvious gif file reference.  Maybe it's Flash.

Clicking on the "for the hobbyist" tab brings up the page with the image.

Its probably just a neat graphic for the top of the page. Lets not get carried away. Remember the K Line bigboy image on the "legacy control system" page that has a tether?  Folks were screaming, "the VL bigboy will have  a tether!"

If I'm wrong, I certainly don't want one with the big hole in the tender just above the four wheel truck.

That would also work for me....as they're my two favorite Steamers.

When it's time to issue another NKP Berk, why not add the NKP 755 (on display in Conneaut, OH) and the 763?  Since they're both S-2 Class NKP Berks, I assume that you'd only need to change the cab number, tender number, and loco number referenced in Railsounds.

Likewise, I would imagine the UP 833 would be essentially identical to the 844.  Make another run of both (in black) with all the latest improvements.  Come to think of it, might as well add the 838 to the list.

Absolutely, the 833!!!! There were only about 5 or 6 UP FEF Class northerns that were up-graded to the Worthington SA design Feedwater System, and 833 is one of them. If Lionel produces the UP FEF EXACTLY the same way they did the 844 models, they are PERFECT for the 1955 time frame, and look great hauling passenger OR freight. The number 833 would be an EXCELLENT choice, and I will purchase one for sure!

I think it is a graphic also.

I wouldn't get real excited yet...
