Can someone help me with the correct orientation  of the wheels on a 250E Hiawatha. I had to replace a geared wheel because of damaged teeth on one of them. Due to damaged geared wheel, wheels got out of synch and I want to make sure when I press on the new wheel I have all wheels aligned  correctly so side rods don't bind. Thank You

Here are photos of my 250e. I took a picture of one side, then turned the loco over without moving the drive wheels, and photographed the other side. Also, attached is a picture of the Hobby Horse wheel cups. It appears that the wheels are not quartered. However, this loco was rewheeled using those wheel cups, so I cannot say for sure that this is how Lionel made the locomotive.

They were quartered typically.  Your eyes  may not be good enuf to quarter these just right as this is a more precise set-up than typical for Lionel.  Get one side lined up so there is no rod bind, then use the non removed axle to set the wheel cups accordingly and lock them in. Now you can press the wheels accurately. Good Luck!
