Not being as familiar with Marx as I am with Lionel, I'd like to ask for some advice regarding the following problem.

My restored 333 was running a bit erratic last night, and I suspect the e-unit is to blame. It started hesitantly, then ran very slowly, even with 15+ volts. The smoke unit didn't put out much smoke then either. Then it seemed to run OK with prolific smoke, followed by more anemic behavior. Later on, it wouldn't move after stopping to change directions unless I gave the loco a sharp smack to the top of the boiler shell. So what is the consensus? E-unit, loose wire, or something else? If it's the e-unit, what can be done to fix her up and get her running proper again?
