I was given a box of PW trains and one of the items is the Lionel PW 364 Lumber Loader.  There is a problem with it in that the motor is not secured to the loader unit allowing it to swivel downward causing the large wheel to drop down out of the slot.  I tried to find a parts diagram to see what parts might be missing but I had no luck.  Hopefully the photo will show the problem.   I was hoping someone might be familiar with how the motor gets secured up into the unit.

Thanks,

Ed

The motor should be hanging from a single pivot. The belt holds it up. In fact, many (but not all) were made with a spring to put extra tension on the belt.

You didn't ask, but while you are fixing up your prize, remove each of the rollers by pulling out the pin (one at a time), and clean out the center of the roller with either a pipe cleaner or an appropriate sized drill bit (do not want to enlarge the hole, just clean it). Also polish the pin.

There is a two piece cover on the backside of the loader. The pins of which I write are behind the smaller cover.

Thanks everyone for the information.  It appears that all I need is the belt.

BTW These are not going to be my toys.  They were given to me by my son's father-in-law.  They were his trains when he was a kid.  I am not  sure why he didn't just give them to my son as they just blessed us with our first grandson named Samuel.  No matter though, I am going to clean and libricate it all and get them looking spiffy.  Then they are going to my son to hold for Samuel until he gets a little older.  in the meantime, they will once again be going around a Christmas tree and delighting yet another child Just as they did almost 60 Years ago.

It still amazes me when I get an old PW item and after a bit of  cleaning and polishing they work almost as good as the day they came out of the box.
