I would like to get my later version of this accessory working again.  Although I realize that these were always finicky, the cattle platform was my first accessory added to my pike and it would be fun to get one working as good as can be again.  Is the later version (with the vibrating channels suspended from the two sides of the platform) any better then the early one that used a different system to create the vibration?  I could buy an early version if they seem to work better.  Other than trial and error, do any of you have tips on how to get the platform vibrating evenly.  I have played around with these in the past and it was always  hit or miss.  Any tips will be appreciated.  Phil

I replaced the rubber pads in the car and the corral with felt pads like the ones used to protect your furnitwhen from sliding vases or bowls.  The rubber pads would harden over time and increase the pounding from the vibration.  If memory serves me correctly, I used the 1/4 inch pad type.  I also played with the voltage going to the solenoid.  Again, if my memory serves me correctly, I ran mine at 9 volts.  When LOTS held their convention in Fort Wayne Indiana, many years ago, it was on display with the Summit City Lines Modular train club and featured in the Switcher magazine.  it ran practically non stop for the two day train show.  It was then and still is now, one of my favorite accessories.  Looking forward to placing it on the new layout when I get it back up and running.

I think trial and error might be the only way to get good results. It took me about two hours working on the car and corral to get it running right but its works reliably now. It was matter of shimming with pads, bending ramp tabs, cleaning solenoids, etc to get it to work.

I had received one of these with my train set in 1950 and recalled its worked fine back then. Thats what motivated me to get its replacement working about 10 years ago.
