3D Hooked Tieplates Arrived

Hats off to fellow modeler Jim Lincoln for designing these much-needed hooked tieplates for placement under switch frogs!  They are easy to install and look great...the "hook" fitting into my code 125 Right O Way frog casting perfectly.   I attached a photo (however, I still need to paint and weather the rail, spikes, and plates). 

 

This was my first time ordering through Shapeways and it was a pleasant experience.  I placed my online order on Monday.  Tuesday I received a shipping confirmation e-mail including a tracking link.  Came home this evening and the package was on my porch!  Just great service.

They are $13.28 for 60 plates. 

 

I was originally going to use styrene strip to represent the hook plates, as Mike Cougill describes in his Track Modeling book, but then I learned about these.  I do like the way the hook actually engages the frog.
