I finally found a 3rd Rail PRR Q1.  I think these were made in 2003.  I bought this one from Royz trains this past York.  He upgraded it with ERR, LED's, etc.

It was two chuff, triggered with magnets inside one of the drivers, but I prefer 4 chuff, so I decided to add two more magnets inside the driver.  Based on my erroneous measurements of the magnet, Gunrunnerjohn was kind enought o send me some magnets.  But I wasn't able to get a consistent chuff.  So I bought some bigger magnets, 5mm X 3mm, and I got it to 4 chuff pretty well.

Here's a video of this beautiful locomotive:

Jeff,

I always look forward to seeing  your posts. I totally agree with Alex. You have packed a lot of interest and detail in a smaller area and have done so without it looking over crowded. This is truly a work of art.  Keep the  pics and videos coming.

Can you tell me what you use,for ground cover, in your engine service facility area?

Dave

Thanks!  I really appreciate the positive feedback!  Relatively speaking, there aren't that many of us that can appreciate this stuff, so it is nice to share with and get recognition from our peers.  One of the many benefits of this forum!

The ground cover in the engine facility is just Woodland "fine balast - cinders".  But, what I have done elsewhere is, if you live in NE PA or someplace with coal silt, get a bucket of it and sift it down into different levels of fineness.  I also raised the areas between tracks to give a feel of the tracks really being buried in there.

WOW!!....Jeff...looks like time for an article in the magazine!....if interested, give Allan Miller a ring.

Couldn’t agree more !!!

I agree as well. This beasty and the layout need to be seen in OGR. I do love the layout(what I can see of it) and definitely want to see more Jeff. Give Allan Miller a buzz and I'm sure his eyes will light up as well. Can't wait to see more.
