We’re very sorry to inform you that No. 611 will no longer be available this weekend. Earlier this evening it was discovered a trailing truck leaf spring will need to be replaced in order to operate 611 safely.
For those of you that purchased tickets for this weekend, we’ll be reaching out to you directly via email with further information.
For folks that would still like to spend the holiday weekend with us, our crews are hard at work firing up our steam locomotives #475 and #89 for weekend excursion rides.
We understand this news will come as a massive disappointment; however our mechanical services team is working closely with the visiting VMT crews to get the part replaced as soon as possible.
We’ll be posting any updates as we learn more, and we apologize again for any inconvenience this may have caused.
Well she couldn’t be in a better place if she needs repairs.

I thought they already broke the stoker earlier this year. Maybe the repair failed?

It is the 475, not, 479.

Right. Misinformation travels fast these days.

Understood. So then which one broke, the stoker, or the trailing truck spring?
Strasburg said the trailing truck spring, maybe there is an auto zone nearby? Seriously, I hope some pictures and narrative are shared on the details and repairs.
Too bad!
It's a TRAILING TRUCK SPRING folks. It's one of several great big leaf springs that broke. We've had a couple break on the 765. It's not a big deal to fix.
Beautiful Pictures!

We're back at it!
We're very excited to officially announce 611 is up and ready for her excursions this weekend.
We'd like to give a special shout out to our Mechanical Department who went above and beyond, working round the clock to ensure 611 would be ready to roll as soon as possible.
We'd also like to thank our partners at VMT.
We hope you can make it out to the Rail Road this weekend to see the Queen of Steam!
I can't wait to get behind the controls of this beast on 9/3!

My wife and I rode behind the 611 yesterday in an open air car, so we could best see, hear, and smell the 611. Had a great day, cool, in the low 70’s. Had fun on the train, then toured the Toy Train Museum, and the Choo Choo Barn. Everything looked great.
We had lunch at Issacs, and on the way home stopped at the Turkey Hill Experience in Columbia, Pa. where we got an hour lecture about how to make ice cream, then we got to design, build and eat our own custom pint.
Strasburg, is Traintown, USA!
Great day!

I understand 611 going to Strasburg brings it a lot closer to PA steam fans, but why not a longer railroad in the future like Reading and Northern and Steamtown both of which connect with NS? Both have turntables and wyes to turn 611 but the wyes at Reading and Portland, PA are actually NS. I suppose NS could allow 611 to turn by itself without the coaches at Reading and Portland if those visits would actually happen. Reading to Jim Thorpe, Jim Thorpe to Pittston, and Scranton to Delaware Water Gap would be great routes for the 611.
