Hello everyone,

I have a post war 681 that's been running poorly. After tearing it apart the armature was tough to remove. The shaft may have a slight bend to it but I noticed the end of the worm gear is a little damaged. It doesn't want to go back in easily and I don't want to force it. I would like to replace it. The service manual calls for 671M-8 armature assy. Jeff at train tender doesn't have one listed. An internet search doesn't come up with one either. I'm considering replacing the complete motor but can't find it either. Does anyone know what other motors or armatures would fit the 681 so that I can expand my search. I'm not sure if all or some of Lionel's post war motors are interchangeable. Thank you for reading this post.
