How does the 1950 Hudson run as opposed the 1964-66 Hudson?
Replies sorted oldest to newest
The 1950 Hudson was a Premier Really Super Engine. The rollers are unique as you will see, high in the center and the engine runs quiet and steady. If it had the new Lionel 2013 Legacy System, it would be a super seller. The tender is also awesome as its die-cast with accutate detail. NICE. The newer versions tenders were plastic and the truck frames were plastic. The engine was die cast but not as nice.
Either get the 1950 Hudson or the new Visions Hudson....fun fun fun
Thank you for the input!
nyc5340,
I have both of these locos and run them regularly. I don't like the tender on the 64 model so I have swaped it out for a 2426 re-issue with railsounds. Both rub very smooth and will pull a lot of cars. I have never tried to see how many but the 50 version has no problem pulling 6 PW Irvington type cars. The 64 does a great job with 12 6464 style cars. All on a flat and level surface. Both of these engines are geared to have more power to pull and not run at breakneck speeds, which I don't like to run at anyway. I am very pleased with both and by the way they both smoke well, not like MTH but good enough for me.
