Engine 6-28011 C&O Allegheny. Smoke unit #8057. Smoke unit only puts out when holding boost. I put new batting, resister shows 29 ohm, plenty of fluid. Tried new R2 LC same thing. Any suggestions?

That sounds like too much smoke fluid is being used, and the 27 OHM resistor can't get hot enough to burn it up. Did you cut off the covering on the resistor itself ? One suggestion try a lower value resistor, maybe a 20 OHM. Cut off very carefully part number 600-8141-55

I just posted a thread a few weeks ago about the 8057 smoke units. You need to replace the resistor with the current 27 ohm resistor. The original 27 ohm ceramic resistors do not perform well. The new versions work much better. Keep the same value but get the new version.

Reprogram the engine and do not forget AUX1 then press # 74.
Thanks for the help. Even though the resister showed 27 ohm it was bad. Replaced with a new Lionel 27 ohm and now works perfectly. Lots of smoke.
