97 Coal Loader question

I noticed part # 97-57 on the parts list for the 97 Coal Loader - a part that I am not familiar with. I have seen it listed in one document as simply "Guard" and in another as a "Sprocket Guard." Is it meant to fit over the bottom sprocket where the buckets scoop into the coal? If so, how does it attach?

I have seen one picture or video that some sort of guard in that area, a guard I though might be meant to keep the coal in the buckets, but maybe it was just to keep stray fingers and cat's tails out of the works? Sorry, can't find the pic or video

It theoretically keeps the coal from catching between chain & sprocket. Slips between up&down chains, over sprocket. Has a groove for the axle, and then two clips fold over the axle to keep it in place.

Pix attached. I built a structure on a higher track to hold a lot of coal and direct it into the #97 scoop. Tired of coal jamming despite the guide, the bare wood you see is a series of baffled to keep the coat from rising higher that the s procket axle.
