Thanks, Jim.  That's kind of you and I always enjoy sharing similar interests with you in different posts.  My dissertation time period is from 1773 to 1815, and yes, the parallels between now and earlier times are stunning. Hence, the need to keep up with the times (literally, The Times :-).  (But I dare not say more .)  The only problem with studying the early republic is there are no trains to write about in my required 75000 words, so I come here and blather on a bit.  This forum is a very tempting distraction!

Jim, you are very right, but, O! how much harder it is to avoid it these days!

It is great to have a place to share where there are things we can agree on!

I agree so much, this is a place to go and forget about life's up and down's. A great place to learn form others, to share what you have learned, and most of all have a good time with some laughs along the way! Great place to make good friends from around the world with the same desire as the rest of us here.

TRRR - your time period of study almost reaches the beginnings of trains. Before that they were using horses and mules to pull mine  cars.  That would be different on  layout. Timber rails, wooden carts pulled by draft animals.   Visionline ??
