Many of you followed my recent thread about on-line buying. I have had excellent experience in buying and selling to Forum members and I think this is something that really adds value to Forum membership.

Today, I received my most recent Forum purchase. The box was packed a box within a box with bubble wrap used generously. The package was in perfect condition and the merchandise was exactly what the seller reported. The passenger cars were in absolutely perfect condition and were exactly what I was looking for. They are rare items and the Forum member was more than fair with pricing. Many thanks to the seller.

So this is the best starting place for me when looking for a train related item. I don't think you can do better. Thanks also go to our Forum sponsors who make this wonderful service available to Forum members free of any fees.

I would heartily agree Brian as by far most of my acquisitions over the past several years have come from the FS Trade board here. My favorite story was where I had responded to a comment made by someone regarding the Lionmaster N&W Class A. We had the locomotive and the other fella had the full-scale No 1218 which was slightly too large for his layout at the time. We communicated a little and ended up trading locomotives.

The mighty Class A is still one of my favorites and may get a PS3 upgrade when the kits become available...

Glad you still like it Sam.

I have also had good experiences buying on the forum.  I always used a special credit card with a low credit limit isssued by a small bank.  I was concerned about giving out account numbers to people I did not know. I have used this card with other web merchants who are not on the forum.  Well guess what after over ten years I have never had a problem with this card, or any merchant where I used it, but guess what. Some of the big merchants I used my other cards with high credit limits now have problems. Think Target and Neiman Marcus.

Just this past week I purchased a 1:48 scale building from Mr. Muffin trains. The transaction was perfect and I received the gas station Saturday.  I wish I could say the same about some other on line merchants that are much more well known.

I am glad you had a positive experience.  In some sense I would trust any forum member - at least any member who joined long before a day or too ago - more than anonymous sellers on the internet.  On other forums (high performance cars) I have seen folks join a week or so ahead of when they want to dump quesitonable parts, etc., so I always check out the buyer's profile - no offense to anyone.  (I guess I'm once burned, twice shy: although I've sure been burned more than twice, come to think of it)

My "Buy it here" story.

I have purchased several items here (OGR) with no issues...that is to say issues left unresolved. i.e. I purchased a box of track from a guy in Michigan (-:, Well, he was selling so much stuff at the time he sent the track to the wrong address. He and his help intercepted the shipment somehow and redirected it which took a while. Needless to say...I was relieved. He and I have become great (internet) buds and we will meet someday. The other was a guy in New York State (-:, He shipped a purchased Williams Trainmaster to me which arrived damaged. I thought the "Ole Boy was gonna have a cow"! I talked him into doing nothing as it was repairable and not his fault, again, he has become a great "internet pal". Oddly or not, they know each other (great minds in a circle thingy)!!! SO...there is more to this than the trains Ya'Know.

I posted my "Wnated" on the Wanted to buy forum. Another forum member alerted me to the caboose on the For Sale Forum and the caboose now sits on  my layout.

The OGR Forum is ndeed a wonderful place!

Richard

I am glad you found your caboose

Brian,

I have to agree with you 100%, recently while talking about our Masonic trains I acquired some additional Masonic rolling stock, in the trains original shipping container & Masonic Train Box, the gentlemen was absolutely truthful about everything and it arrived in perfect conditon.  IMO the OGR forum members make this type of purchasing possible.

Several of my locomotives, and lots of other stuff has been bought from members on this forum. Not once have I had any regrets, and the integrity of OGR Forum Members is of the utmost. I buy with confidence on the OGR Forum!

Going further, the OGR Forum Members who are authorized service techs have made reliable and affordable repairs for me. I trust them more than I do the OEMs.

THE OGR FORUM IS THE BEST BENEFIT IN MODEL RAILROADING!
