What do you use as a holder for the remote controllers when not in use? I'd like to have something to fasten to the edge of the layout to hold DCS and TMCC remotes rather than dumping them into a shoe box.

My Legacy remote goes back in the charger. I built a caddy for my DCS remote.
I do the same thing at home that we did at my club: Secure them to the layout framework sides using Velcro strips.
We had a thread like this a while back and some came up with some elaborate ideas. One simple idea I remember though is one fellow screwed a plastic coffee can to the side of the layout. I got criticized for making a comment that I didn't think any thing was needed. I just lay mine on the table next to the transformers.

Old fashioned control table, but I love the nostalgia.
I bought a DCS remote holder from Micro Mark. I like it because I can still access the keypad while it is in the holder.

I leave my Legacy cab 2 remote laying any where and everywhere.Much more convinient to have to look for it every time I go back.Nick
I read a tip that said to use an officemax high-back brochure holder. They showed it holding two Legacy remotes, a DCS Remote Commander and some books. It can sit on the layout top or be mounted to the side. They are available at the link below for less than $10. Seems like a good solution.

Sorry for the duplicate post.
What about a lanyard around your neck, does anyone use something like that?
I have use the DCS remote many years and an comfortable with it. I got the Legacy remote a few months ago and find it large and not as easy to operate. But the switches are operated through the DCS remote, so anytime there is a route change, I have to pick up the DCS remote while still handling the Legacy remote.
Very clumbersome. I have been thinking about adding some sort of neck brace to allow for not put down one or the other remote. Maybe attach a piece of Velcro to the back of the remote to attach the lanyard?

Here's what I use for my DCS remote. Only modification I did to it was wrap the metal bar with electrical tape to prevent scuffs......

I'm glad that you commented. I have seen those but never bought one, but I thought it would be a great idea to have several!
I included the link to the Ace website, but I bought it right in the store.....don't remember if it was the same 5 or 6 bucks, but probably close.

Could you screw these into a front fascia?
My transformers are on a small TV table that rolls out from under the layout. I just lay the remotes on the shelf, no need for a caddy. They are right there when I turn on the transformers.
I remember seeing somewhere here on the Forum that they used one quart plastic milk containers notched out to set the remotes into.

I use a keyboard tray.
I use small office plastic pencil holders that I screw to the fascia of the layout. I got them at a big box office supply chain. They work great. The cell phone caddy from Western Marine looks interesting.

Sure, shouldn't be a problem.

Since I run conventionally otherwise, but I have five LC+ locos with remotes. When one or more are on the layout, those stay on a shelf near the transformers when not in my hand. I have painted the road number on the remote to help distinguish which is which. (If you do not recognize the road numbers as LC+ numbers it is because I have bashed all but one into more scale models of somewhat smaller locos).
When the loco is not on the layout, its remote stays with it on the shelf.
