Has anybody not into live steam, built an operating scaled down semaphore signal just for the joy of having one? I have been reviewing them on youtube videos and have a 1928 document on their construction. I located this: https://www.amazon.com/AMGSH-1...strial/dp/B0CPXXGVZX with its 2 inch travel would probable be enough with the correct linkage placement to move it in all 3 quadrants for one up to 4 ft tall. Just wondering if anybody else is derailed in this direction? I know folks collect rail signals and sell them, I have one salvaged from the SCL on the line between Baldwin and Callahan, FLA, but did not get it before vandals had smashed the lenses and broke the door locks. It is only 2 aspect, all cast iron, and its like picking up a VW to move it around. I used to use it as ballast in the back of my pickup in winter here in NC when I had to use chains.
