alex, great videos as always. I have the gs6 and its very similer inside. the cylinder steam works very well like yours. you just have to get the main smoke unit primed real good.

I think that if the model doesn't have whistle smoke it has steam dynamo smoke instead rather than blowdown. Mine (GS5) has a whistle. I'm pleased to say it all works after I had to open it up to correct the main smoke unit connections being reversed! As you can see in the video, one is white and is gray.

Those GS1s are nice. I kinda wish I had ordered one with the Vanderbilt tender, but they were out of my price range. Would have gone nice with my GS4 and GS6.

Did they make the T&NO version?
