Ginny, Skip Natoli and I had an amazing day down in Grand Central Terminal for the parade of trains More than 20 vintage passenger cars impeccably restored by their owners, wonderful motive power including a New York Central cab unit,
great displays, and vintage subway cars running on the GCT-Times Square shuttle.

* Special Don McQuaig video selection !!

Mammoth crowds. Fortunately, we arrived early and had a great tour. The lines got so long they were shut down at 2:30. Truly a great railroad day.

Thanks so much for the video!  I couldn't attend but your video makes up for it.

I wonder what vintage Subway cars were running on the shuttle?  My favorite are the Lo V's that used to run on the IRT.

That Milw Rd passenger car was really impressive.  What a knockout, eye catching paint scheme.

James...the lady at the end of the video, who is signing photos, is one of NYC's hostess/nurse who worked for the NYC and who rode the 20th Century Limited, I believe.  Skip, or any NYC fans, help me out here.  I remember reading an article in the NYC Historical magazine featuring her; I just cannot locate that issue now.

Steve

James,

The lady's name was Joan Jennings Sclafani and she was "Century Girl" Joan Jennings (hostess/stewardess) on the 20th Century Ltd between 1959 and 1961. She had been featured in an article in the Buffalo News not too long ago. She served many famous people, politicians, former presidents, Frank Sinatra and many more. She was wearing a replica of her original uniform and looked pretty darn good! Real good!
