FOR TODAY: Cool and The Gang! Just another day on the railroad. I found this Corvette at Cracker Barrel and the 1953 Chevy garbage truck in Weedville, Pennsylvania at I think " Valley Farm Market."

Patrick, great finds in weird, or rather unusual places! There's a story in that photo about a hard days work and pounding more than a few brews after work. LoL Great photo!

I see Spencer’s is right next to the pharmacy with the great sign. Maybe Iris and Emogene will need to stop in for some Alla-Seltzer after lunch! 😉

Ha'.. actually Spencer's is a steak house, a little pricy. There's Hammie's, Sassy's , Camie's, and a Howard Johnsons diner. Hard to say where they will wind up... Depends if they want a cocktail I guess. Only, Sassy's and Spencer's have bars'....🍸🍹😁

Thanks so much Ted! Happy St. Paddy's Day right back atcha!!
FOR TODAY: What's in the photo? ... This beautiful spring day draws Patsburgians outdoors! Willy's Weener stand is selling hotdogs and burgers like they are going out of style. Willy had to call upon his wife Edna, to bring more dogs, burgers, and buns. O'l Jeremiah Lotsford sits on a pile of bricks and dangles a hot dog on a stick as he teases his dog Barnabus. In a few seconds Barnabus will snatch that hotdog right off the stick! In the lower left hand corner of this photo, Ned Jenkins is literally running late yet again to catch his train. He better hurry because the conductor just yelled " all aboard". Firemen of the Patburg VfD will be washing and waxing their apparatus today ... you can bet a growler of beer on that! They've already have put a nice shine on the department's new 1959 Catalac ambulance. Young Corky Cathcart can be found at his news stand every morning yelling " Get your newspaper here! Get your magazines here! Read all about it so I don't have to shout it! AND up the street, Bertha's Restaurant will later serve a lunch buffet of the finest seafood in these here parts. Known for their famous muscles and nightly swingin live jazz, people from all over flock to Bertha's Restaurant to enjoy a superb meal that's guaranteed to make their taste buds dance! .. Just another day down by the railroad!

FOR TODAY: The final day of winter makes its' departing statement with heavy snow in Patsburg. Regardless of the weather trains are still running on time. The B&O Capitol Limited is about to stop at the station as the Pennsylvania RR Broadway Limited departs. ... Just another day on the railroad!

I was going to post this under "Scenic Sunday" but it looks like there has been no posts there for over a year. This is my idea of "Scenic" a fleet of passenger cars waiting to be sent off to their next destinations.
This is a lower level yard which is part of my rebuild of Twin Pines Railroad. Upper deck has been removed to place yard track. I have never bee able to place more than 3 passenger trains on my previous layouts. So motivating to just see these on the layout... wow.

Jeff, congratulations on the passenger yard! It is looking great already!!
FOR TODAY: On this first day of Spring commuter operations are in full swing this morning! B&O westbound RDCs will depart any minute now. The last car of a Western Maryland 4 car commuter train is taking on passengers for an east bound departure. This WM train normal consist is a combine RPO/baggage/coach and a single coach, however today a large group of elementary school students, on a field trip, will occupy two extra coaches. At this moment B&O conductor Virgil Luckadoo shouts " All aboard! All aboard!". Engineer Ross Clomford reves the RDC's diesel engines, a plume of black exhaust smoke will eminate from the domes of each car and the 2 car B&O RDC train will be west bound. Happy Spring! ... just another day on the railroad!

Nice passenger running, Pat!
Scouting Dad..............It's coming along nicely! So nice to have more space to store cars.
FOR TODAY: This second day of spring bring such wonderful weather! Rather than ride his bike to school this morning, Little Chucky decided to cut school and make a bee-line to the rail yards. I'm sure the school's principal, Mr. McCauley, will be calling his parents. Little Chucky better enjoy this day watching trains to the max because he will be sitting in the hot seat at tonight's supper table. ... just another day on the railroad!

FOR TODAY:
"Hello Mr. Ostryker. I'm Detective Mulligan with Patsburg PD. Give me the fact please. Just the facts." With a relieved look on his face Arni Ostryker excitedly begins telling the detective what happened. " Well detective, I just parked my car here for a short time while I went to do some business. When I couldn't locate the party whom I was to do business with, I returned to my car only to find the dang car was shot to !^^%$ !!" Dective Mulligan, nodding his head as he listens to Ostryker and jotting notes onto his notepad. " Do you have any idea who would do this to you? Do you have any enemies? Perhaps someone you know? Perhaps a business associate?" Ostryker explains" Honestly, I have no idea who would do this! I demand a quick arrest to whoever did this to my car!" Mr. Ostyker PPD has uniformed officers combing the area as we speak. We will find the perp! I guarantee it!
Busted! 20 minutes after Mulligan takes the statement from Ostyker, the perp is being searched by Officer Tueley. Turns out the perp is Junior Higgins a figure rumored to be associated with a highly disorganized local crime family headed by Don and Juan.
Later after the police leave the scene, taking Junior way for booking, Don and Juan arrive to survey Ostyker's damaged car. " Hey Don. I thought you told Junior to shoot out the tires." " Well yeah I did, but you know as well me, Junior is not a very good shot." Yeah that's true Don. We can see the proof of that because not even one tire is flat! Let's go to lunch then pay a visit to the police station with Bucky Brewster, our lawyer, and spring o'l Junior". Don nodding in agreement " "Yeah good idea Juan! Where shall we go for lunch? I'll call Bucky and tell em to meet us there."

Wow, @trumpettrain, you are a great story teller, so many interesting scenes with people, workers, pedestrians, travelers, and plain oh street workers, great imagination, beautiful layout. FOR TODAY: It's Friday afternoon!
Judging by the sun's glare on the tower window it must be bout 3 pm. A Penny A5 takes on water at the spout. Fireman Gustav Bleakley stands on the tender's deck waiting for the tank to top off. After the tank is full the little A5 will make its' way to the roundhouse to be put away until tomorrow. Gus is anticipating a nice cold brew at Gallagher's Irish Pub once he's off duty in about 30 minutes.
About 3:30 as clouds roll in this quartet of power is ready for their next assignment. The WM BL2 will head a commuter train from Patsburg out to the burbs as will the B&O Gp9. The GG1 will lead a long distance passenger train to New York City and the N&W J will lead a passenger train to Norfolk VA.
Meanwhile on a remote MOW siding up on the Mountain Division, MOW worker Barnabus Greenly pauses to take in the gorgeous scenery, senza the junk pile in the foreground. Seems like this work caboose will be his home away from home this weekend. Good thing he brought his fishing pole because there is a trout stream near by and Barnabus does love him some trout too!
