My favorite ice cream is Haagan Dazs, and it is currently the only major brand that uses NO vegetable gum fillers, much like the old Breyer's. I have looked at every label in ice cream cases in several stores, and this is true. These fillers such as guar gum, acacia gum, and others give you less actual ice cream for your money. a Haagan Dazs reefer would make a nice reefer for a wholesome and pure dairy product with great flavors!

FYI: The name, Haagan Dazs, is NOT a foreign name but rather a made up name. The Dreyer Ice Cream Company of Oakland, CA came up with this brand name, but their parent company at present is the Nestle Co., which is a Swiss concern.
Atlas was making only real cars that existed, which are the only ones l want ,anything to do with. I visited Haagan Daz in VT., but have generally been underwhelmed with their flavor choices. Lapperts, Kilwin's, and Baskin & Robbins are my definition of ice cream, but l don't know how they rank with
To continue, I don't know how Lapperts, Kilwin's, or Baskin & Robbins rank with gum fillers. Lapperts is only found in HI., and the San Francisco area, Kilwin's all over Mich. and a few other locations, including Gettysburg, when you attend York. B&R is much more available. I once found it in Carson City, but it is gone now from Lancaster, Ohio.
Wished Atlas would do the old blue and white ASCO milk reefer. The old TM line had them in HO.
ASCO was the predecessor of the old Acme Markets from Philly.
Oh and a Breyer's express reefer with the mint leaf logo would be "cool" also.
Breyer's used to be a purer ice cream until Kraft took them over in the 1990's. Alas, they now also use the vegetable gum fillers. They argue the gum additives are "stabilizers", which prevent ice crystals. I never had problems with ice crystals with the original Breyer's! Haagan Dazs uses egg yolks as a stabilizer and they are a source of both protein, fat and cholesterol. Haagan Dazs is the closest to the original Breyer's and has the best taste especially the pineapple-coconut!
BTW, I would go for an Atlas Breyer's reefer!

MTH made a Breyers reefer about 20 years ago, and even though it was RailKing, it was surprisingly close to scale.
Ice cream makers (both hand cranked and electric) are still being made, and recipe books are still being printed. Considering how much these "Premium" brands cost per pint, it's cheaper to make a larger batch of your own - and in whatever flavor you like.
As to reefers, I believe it was Lionel that made Good Humor and Popsicle cars some years back, and there's always custom painting and decals for the brands you like most.
Oops..boo-booed....it was Ben and Jerry's l visited in Vermont. While not having had Haagan Daz in decades, a friend coincidentally brought in a pint of HD coconut-pineapple today. It was emptied, and pineapple was there in small chunks, but coconut, in abundance in a B&R flavor or Velvet, made next to a water mill north of Columbus, Oh., and found on shelves in Wallyworld and elsewhere, was not apparent. I go for flavor...there is a brand found in many local groceries including Walmart that l consider tasteless. I will bet that B&J, HD, Kilwin's, B&R, or Lappert', from the island of Kauai, never operated billboard, or any other, reefers.

Particularly since billboard reefers were banned by the ICC in 1937...
