Wow, we sure had a full plate ths weekend!

On Saturday, we attended the 13th annual Air Show at the Apple Valley Airport.

Gee, in addition to lots of historic military aircraft, private planes, and classic cars, there were crowd-pleasing flyovers of WW2 Warbirds, such as the P-51 Mustang, the P-40 Warhawk, the F4U Corsair, the P-38 Lightning, he B-25 Mitchell, the German FW-190, the Russian YAK-3, and the AT-6. Golly, there's nothing like the sound of those piston-engine fighters zooming by close to the ground!

On Sunday, we visted the W.A.R.M. (Western America Railroad Museum) Railroad Festival in Barstow at the classic old Harvey House, which is also an Amtrak terminal. In addition to large model railroad layouts in the old hotel's Grand Ballroom, there were also walk-through displays of the Santa Fe #95, a Santa Fe Caboose, and a passenger Pullman car. The #95 has a 20-cylinder 2-Stroke engine!  Gosh it was fun!

RIP TRACK  (There were originally 84 Harvey Houses built along the Santa Fe routes...the P-51 Mustang is revving up for its takeoff roll, even though the prop appears stationary.)
