Basic issue is I can't get in to program mode!. I have 2 I just got about 2 weeks ago and started fussing with them after finding a battery for the remote.

Bottom line, I can't get into program mode. Using either the direction button or the #6 on the remote. In each case I hold them as instructed and then with the transformer button quickly push it some number of time (unspecified in the instructions, I tried progressively more).

In any case I never hear "program mode" as it says in the instructions. Just the prime mover sounds. It seems to work correctly other than that, but since I can get into program mode on either I must admit it must be me 8(.

What am I doing wrong? BTW I have the boards out on the bench hooked up to a CW-80.

Also I am going to put something under the battery contact for a while and see if clearing the memory that way helps.

That isn't it. I have the speaker in a tube with a baffle. If anything it's plenty loud.

No my issue is for some reason it doesn't seem to go into Program Mode. Is the voice overlaid over the train sounds or should the train sounds be completely off and I only hear the voice? The sounds that I hear are great, I just want to play with it some.

Either pushing the 6 key or the direction button when starting up, it does not appear to go into program mode.

I have the same problem as I am completely unable to enter Program Mode using any AC transformer regardless of whether it is a postwar ZW, or modern era CW-80. Step 3 of the instructions refers to repeatedly tapping the direction button, which does nothing. I have tried different tapping speeds, voltages, you name it. Maybe I need to tap out an SOS, or "MRC sucks" in Morse code to access the secret programming functions.
