Just as the title says, I removed the journals to replace the traction rubbers and the arms crumbled into about 5 small pieces.  At first I thought, plastic rot.  No, these are made of diecast.  I was able to order a replacement truck (Lionel has been out of journals for 7 years) to get the 2 that I needed.  The others were OK.

Anyone else have this happen to them?  Just FYI.

 

By the way, the C-Clips removal and installation are a blast!

I wondered if someone can tell me what to look for with the disintegrating wheel journal connecting arms. Are there cracks visible in the

arms before you remove them. I have an NEW IN BOX Acela Set my hobby shop owner just bought. They have test run the engines. I cannot see

the problem although one visitor said this sample has the issue described here.
