I installed an MRC sound board in a Williams GP9

Works okay, not as loud as Protosound, but it does okay for the price. Four wires, two for track power and two for speaker.

Yes, the SD28 (and similar GP38-2 and SD18) locomotives can easily fit a speaker in the fuel tank, with plenty of room for an electric horn or Railsounds commander unit in between the E-unit and the can motor.

Will it work for one with the larger AC Pullmor motor? The 8380 Lionel Lines had that type. This was before Lionel put can motors into the smaller SD units.
Thomas-
Absolutely - the pullmor motor versions just had a larger cutout in the frame above the front truck for the motor. There is still plenty of room behind the motor for the circuit board.

Thanks for the input. I ordered the MRC soundboard and will give it a go.
