AF 119 battery tender

I think I found the correct 119 battery tender for the Type XIX loco I bought from Steve last month. Any recommendations on what battery to use? Looks to be about the size of a c-cell but wasn't the original battery square like a 9-volt?

Yes, it looked more like a 9 volt square battery but it wasn't. There's a picture of the tender and the battery on page 26 on the pre-war flyer thread at the other place.
