I recently purchased a flyer set. 1218 black loco, 1200 electric service baggage, and two
1201 lightning bolt coaches. The cars are red. I have been looking for an observation car
in this color scheme, but cannot even find a picture of one anywhere. Did flyer ever
make a lightning bolt observation?

They definitely made a red AFL1207 with garter coupler and observ deck.

not on a 1207 that I am aware of. Usually the sets contain two of the 1201s and a 1205 baggage.

That's what I was thinking.
Ok, I went through some catalogs and reference works, and as far as I can tell there was no 1206/1207 Red LB car made. The sets of your vintage generally came with a 1200 Baggage (the 1205 was primarily round roof only) and either 1 or 2 1201 pullman coaches. The only square roof observations are late in their run with the 5 window design that carries over to the round roof cars.... probably transitional and specials more than anything. Now, beware that Flyer did anything and everything to make exceptions to the rules that we collectors follow. So, there could be a factory made, red, 1206/1207 with lightning bolts...but its highly unlikely.
