Aside from the legacy capability of the new production PAs, they run SO MUCH better than the ALCOs from the 80s and 90s. The D&RG units for example just crawl at slow speeds, and the flywheel motors keep the passenger cars from crashing at a quick stop.  Won't even mention how much nicer the paint jobs are now.

If the PA's were being offered as a true scale model, I'd be able to find at least a dozen things wrong with them.  But, as a mechanically updated Gilbert Flyer model, it's fine.

 

Even old A.C. missed the mark on decorations some times. (The New Haven PA's, for example.)

 

Still, if a Flyonel version of the MoPac PA's were reissued with the current innards, I'd strongly consider replacing my Flyonel coffee-grinders.
