I checked with Lionel at York. If you didn't order the new SP PAs in advance you are out of luck till they are offered by someone reselling them.
There are always some of the originals from 1981 on eBay.
I have 2 of the 81 sets so had no interest in the Legacy units.
Is that a camera distortion or do these have negative sloped noses? They almost look like shark nose in the photo? .......DaveB

Wide angle distortion.

"Great looking..." ???
The model paint scheme does not match the prototype.
...and that whopper gap...stunning.
I am glad to be high rail toy train, I think they look great.

If the PA's were being offered as a true scale model, I'd be able to find at least a dozen things wrong with them. But, as a mechanically updated Gilbert Flyer model, it's fine.
Even old A.C. missed the mark on decorations some times. (The New Haven PA's, for example.)
Still, if a Flyonel version of the MoPac PA's were reissued with the current innards, I'd strongly consider replacing my Flyonel coffee-grinders.

I'm looking forward (with anticipation) to seeing the D&H's.

So am I!
Update: Charles Ro is shipping my D&H Alcos today! He says the passenger cars now have a December delivery date.
Charles Ro is shipping my S/P Alcos . Over 8 weeks since Lionel said PA's on the water arriving soon!
Picked up my D&H PA set this past weekend. They run, sound, and smoke beautifully with Legacy/TMCC and the decoration is among the very best for Lionel AF Gilbert-style ALCos. No problems on my Gilbert track and turnouts, as one might expect.
Enjoy!
