All Aboard! Lionels at Laman (North Little Rock AR)
The Lionel Collectors Club of America (LCCA) invites you to attend the “Lionels At Laman” exhibit and operating toy train layout in North Little Rock AR. A team of Lionel loyalists led by Mike Mottler (RM 12394), Craig Gerard (RM 15198), and Robert Lewis (RM 27374), have installed the train layout for the fifth annual All Aboard! Lionels at Laman exhibit, which will open Thursday, December 12, at 10 a.m.
The exhibit will be open to club members and the public from December 12 through December 31 during regular library hours. The Library will be closed Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Laman Library is located at 2801 Orange Street in North Little Rock, AR. The exhibit is free, and LCCA members will receive a SE pin and a billboard frame with a Christmas billboard insert. Last year, more than 5,100 visitors attended this event. Aside from our LCCA annual conventions, this event is the largest and most well attended LCCA Special Event of the year.
The layout has three main lines. The two tracks on the lower level will be equipped with Lionel POWERMASTERS for wireless control of Conventional trains, and the upper level with a 14-feet-long elevated bridge will be equipped with TMCC for wireless control of Legacy-equipped diesel and steam locos. Three displays will show vintage and modern trains.
The layout footprint is about 14x25 feet as a staggered offset design with five platforms. Two platforms show DEPT 56 lighted porcelain buildings with a holiday theme, two platforms are industrial districts with operating accessories, and two elevated platforms are "downtown" and "suburbia" with buildings and separate trolley lines.
A fun-to-do quiz based on the features of the layout will be offered to visitors. A drawing from the box of correct quizzes will be held and the winner will receive a free Lionel starter train set provided by the LCCA. In addition, the library will offer a door prize of a Lionel Polar Express train set to a lucky winner.
