I have a total of 60 so far.  If I don't have a particular detective it is because: a) I don't like them (possible but I like just about all TV detectives, etc.), or b) I can't get the right car (I should get the 1954 Buick for Dan Mathews - Broderick Crawford in Highway Patrol and Dick Diamond's Ford Convertible from diecastdirect next month.  I can't find the right model of a mid 70's Firebird for Jim Rockford, etc.).

In alphabetical order by last name of the lead detective in the series.

Not car 54, but yes, I would love Adam 12.  I've looked for the proper car but all I can find in the way of mid/late '60s Plymouths are coupes.  It has to be the Plymouth, too, don't want the AMC Matador (which i can't find either) if I can possibly avoid it.  I may be forced to buy a '68 Plymouth coupe and modify it to a sedan, which is a pain of a project to do.

Gene Barry's Rolls from Burkes Law?

I wouldn't be surprised if the cast from Surfside Six, Hawian Eye, and Burbon Street Beat didn't share cars with the Sunset Strip bunch.  I know they were all shot in Burbank on th WB lot and they used to just redress the same office!  Talk about low budget!

Yellow Cuda on Nash Bridges.  Not a very good show but a very distinctive car.

Thanks guys.  Lots of good suggestions and my list of gotta-be-on-the-layout is growing!  In for a dime, in for a dollar.  Might as well let this theme take over the layout, given how much fun they are.  My little layout's town will be the safest in America!

Yes, Virgil Tibbs and Bill Gillespie have to be there - I'm thinking maybe I park their cars in front of Henry Crabbe's restaurant and have them eating lunch together at one of the sidewalk tables.  A comment: with apologies to Rod Steiger, I always liked Carroll O'Conner's Gillespie better - one of my favorite TV shows back when.  I also fantasize about a black '63 Plymouth sedan prowl car on my 'Streets, with a tiny speaker playing "Fowl Owl on the Prowl."

I also still have to do Clouseau, Maigret, Rockford, Highway Patrol, and Travis McGee (blue Rolls pickup? - gotta do that!) and some others, and Miami Vice: other than Magnum the only detectives I know who drive a Ferrari - I've got Magnum, might as well have the other.  Also, I have thought about Quincy, if I could find a way to get a bit of a bay or harbor in there - and his boat.

Lee,

These are the cars used on the show for the Adam-12 vehicle:

1967     Plymouth Belvedere 4 door (Actual LAPD car used for pilot episode)
1968     Plymouth Belvedere 4 door
1969     Plymouth Belvedere 4 door
1970     Mercury Montego 4 door (Only used 1 year by LAPD and show)
1971     Plymouth Satellite 4 door
1972     AMC Matador 4 door
1973     AMC Matador 4 door

You can tell the actual LAPD cars from the civilian repaints used for the show by the inside trunk lid color. Actual LAPD cars came black from the factory, and the white was painted over the black. This left the inside trunk lid black. The show purchased white cars, then added the black. So the inside of the trunk lid is white. One of those things to look for.

Oh! Almost forgot. 'Columbo's' Peugot is used in a couple of episodes. There's one episode where Reed and Maloy are talking to a girl standing in front of the Peugot, and if you look close you'll see a forgotten 'Columbo' script book sitting on the roof.

Wow, I am impressed with your attention to detail, Len.  I have looked for all those cars you listed by the way, but can't find a good model of any.  I could/would repaint one if I found a good model - that would not be too much to do.  As I said the best I can find are coupes, not sedans, and I really don't want to have to do body work to convert to a sedan in addition to repainting.  I'm hoping America excellence will offer a late '60s/early 70s, basic Plymouth sedan soon . . . any year will be good enough.
