There are a couple posts on the forum about all black sets and it got me wondering , has anyone else ever repainted an entire train, passenger or freight, tinplate or otherwise,  all one color? I have on the back burner plans to do an all white steam freight set locomotive and cars and a similar set in glow in the dark paint, now I'm thinking about an all black set. Has anyone ever done this or seen one, what was your impression? I think they look pretty cool and definitely different. The only problem I have is getting the proper all white or all black decals I need with the all black sets harder to find than white, I prefer Champ decals and sometimes the Ebayers think they are worth a mint, but like I said it's a back burner project right now .

A lot of prewar Lionel passenger sets are all one color scheme.

I believe that during the modern era (1970 and beyond) Lionel made a number of unit train sets. The first one that comes to my mind is a Burlington Northern set with almost identical boxcars. Only the road number differed. Here is one on Ebay: Burlington Northern Limited.
I guess it sticks out in my mind because I purchased one of the boxcars from a set breakup.

One of my projects is a clear set. Lionel made a number of cars in the early post war era that were painted over clear plastic. The silver ones strip easily, but the red cabooses and yellow cattle cars are more work.

I am also working on a chrome set, which will probably have to be a passenger train.

I think you will have a nice set. I have seen various clear cars offered (that have had their paint stripped away).
I have a 4454 boxcar that was molded in clear plastic that I stripped. I even gave it some time in an ultrasonic cleaner. There are still traces of paint in some of the crevices. Any tips on getting those last bits of paint?

PRR Tuscan GG-1s and the Broadway Limiteds.

Gramps used to run green heavy Madison's with the Brunswick green GG-1.

My add hock military train alternates red and blue every other car, and I've been known to run all blue gondolas, or all red flat cars to satisfy the OCD in me

My DT&I work train is mostly Safety Orange, it will be 100% sooner or later.
