Kind of a longshot, but just seeing if there is any info out there...

I live in Saint Helens, Oregon,  we have a small yard here in town that usually has lumber trains and tankers sitting  in it. The yard is run by Portland and Western. Also a few time a week, a BNSF tanker train passes through.

On Sunday I was passing by the yard and noticed every single car, and the engines I usually see in the yard are gone. Usually I see 50-75 cars and 3 or 4 engines, now it's nothing but rail. As I entered Portland today I noticed that the tracks on that feed towards Saint Helens seem empty too.

Anyway of finding out why everything suddenly is gone? Some sort of maintenance that shut the tracks down perhaps and traffic is being rerouted perhaps?

Way back in the 1980's a film buff friend of mine showed me this movie that started out with some guy that worked in a nuclear silo calling his family about a pending nuclear war. Then later on in the movie various SWAT, Seals, are outside the building trying to track him down. And then suddenly, they all bug out. Stop whatever they are doing and get on helicopters, cars, whatever and just leave.

Maybe its something like that.
