Even if it may be prototypical, I don't like the green-tinted window strips in my Lionel scale heavyweight passenger cars because they make it more difficult to view the interiors. If anyone feels the same and has changed them out, what have you replaced them with?

If you search the forums, I believe someone else was able to easily remove them leaving clear windows.

I should have said “green-tinted,” and I’ve edited my original post accordingly.
I actually have some old clear transparency sheets that I used to replace silhouette strips on my Williams heavyweights.
I have used clear acrylic or polycarbonate strips where I did not want the heavy green tint and applied them using thin double-sided tape. There are US letter-size sheets that are nearly paper thin and perfectly clear available from Micro-Mark and other vendors who sell through Amazon. Some come with a thin film coating that protects the surface until you have cut them to size, which can easily be done with sharp scissors, and are ready to install.
As an aside, the green tint in the stock heavyweight car window plastic is a lot darker than the strips Lionel used to sell for aluminum streamline passenger cars. Why it changed I dunno.
