I just received my latest auction buy from Cabin Fever, a AF wide gauge 4667. In the photos it looked in pretty good shape and I'm sure it was until UPS delayed it then crushed it enroute. I guess now I'll be getting the usual runaround from UPS. While it is repairable it is going to cost probably $50.00 in parts and time to repair the crushed roof. What I'm really curious about tonight is the motor, Previously I've had 4000 series locomotives and they all had simple lever reverse switches. This 4667 has both a roof top lever and a lever in the front below the cab door. The lever extends inward to a solenoid. None of my other 4000 series have a solenoid, can anyone tell me what this is for? Also UPS crushed the panatograph and the 2 light covers ( the ones with the slit in the side so color shows ) Anyone know of a source for these parts. I know Jeff Kane has the light covers without the side cutout but I'd like to find the other type. THe pictures below are what it looked like BEFORE UPS customized it for me. UPS really does stand for Universally Poor Service.
Tomorrow I'll add some pictures of what UPS did to it.
