I have an AC version AM 4--8-4 that had DC applied to it and the sound system was destroyed. Is there some thing(s) on the board that most often fail under those conditions that if replaced can bring it back to life? The alternative is for me to purchase and install a replacement from AM for roughly $150.00. Thank you.
Thanks Mark. I appreciate your suggestions and alternative approaches. Always open to a better way of getting the job done. I am familiar with and install Dallee and ERR products. The L/AF sound box cars have respectable sound effects as well. This customer, however, wants to keep this AM FEF original. As it turns out the speaker was burnt out. The board was fine. All is well now with a new speaker installed.
