Last I heard, O scale trucks will fit under O scale cars.

Not quite.

Atlas don't model the bolster on the frame; their trucks have a deeper section instead to compensate. Probably makes it easier for them to supply the same car as either 2- or 3-rail.

As I have replaced MTH trucks directly with Atlas (for the rotating bearing caps) then same applies, so I doubt that these true-scale trucks will fit Atlas or MTH, but they may well fit Weaver who did things properly in the bolster dept; & these trucks would be a significant improvement over the Weaver plastic ones.

All that's true and you may have to build a car bolster into the car to mount the trucks....but the trucks all still fit under the car,

Relatively easy to do,essentially Atlas incorporates the bolster in their trucks leaving a small mounting pad on the car floor. They use a short self taping screw to hold trucks to this pad, you will have to use longer screws to mount any standard 2 rail truck along with a spacer [bolster or pad] between truck and Atlas mtg pad, my preference is to drill and tap the existing Atlas screw hole for at least a 2/56 screw this was Weavers standard mtg screw 2/56 by 3/4 readly available at hardware stores depending on the hole in ACM trucks they may be drilled for the old USH mtg screws and springs these were I believe a 3.0 metric tap [very nice setup] these may still be available from Precision.

Or you can just add a cast resin car body bolster tapped 4/40 and mount the truck or your choice......  I'm out of the upper and lower style, but I still have a fair number of the center style available.......
