Lionel Amtrak F40 pair switch...Is anyone else having difficulty with the pair function on their train lashup function. When i am powering up the track the legacy functions seem to glitch on both powered engines. I am running 364, 388, then the cabbage at end of train. I had used pair on the first engine 364 and the cabbage at end of train. Are you supposed to turn pair switch to on position on 364 and 388 in addition to cabbage?

Any F40 in a lash-up with a Cabbage unit should have the switch set to PAIR. The cabbage needs to always be the rear engine facing backwards.
What kind of glitches are you seeing?
When I power up both powered engines the sound function comes on. They don't come on in Legacy mode. Sometimes they start running fwd, sometimes in the lash up one engine will run and one engine will be stuck. I noticed if i turn the power on the legacy remote very very slowly to my track sometimes that alleviates the problem. It is weird
i guess the question is can you use the pair function with a doubleheader powered at the front and rear facing cabbage at end of train?
One F40ph isnt really strong enough or powerful enough to pull the lionel amfleet aluminum cars...
