Behold everyone, the mighty Q's Pacific steam engine!  What is so great about this piece is that we were able to work with the engineering / design department at MTH and relocate the HEADLIGHT to the TOP of the boiler front!!  True to prototypical!  NEVER before has MTH's 4-6-2 Pacific's have this alteration - until NOW!  Thanks goes out to the entire staff over at MTH for making this possible!  It was truly a team effort.

This Premier engine is due out 2nd Quarter of 2022.  Equipped with all the PS 3.0 features you are accustomed to.  Smoke out the top, wheels on the bottom, goes "ding-ding" and "woo-woo".  Price $1250.  Preorder to reserve yours now!  A deposit of $100 American will be required when placing an order.

Berwyn:

I will contact you off list to order one.

Here are some requests for the decoration.

1.  Because MTH has already used #2919 on their CB&Q Imperial Pacific 4-6-2 model, please have a different # on this Premier Q 4-6-2.

2. Please use gold or yellow lettering on both the cab & tender's Burlington Route herald.  This was Q practice as seen in the Morning Sun & Four Ways West color books.  (MTH's previous RK Q Steamers used non-prototypical  white lettering.)

3.  Please use red paint on the cab roof.

4.  If prototypical, please use red paint on the deck of the tender.

Thanks in advance for offering this model !!!

All, but #4, will be on this engine as true to life..... As soon as we approve the final artwork, we will share it with you.

Very, very nice.  It would be nice to see a Railking stream engine in a Midwest road name.  A $400-600 price tag is a little easier for some folks to absorb and you can run them on tighter curves.  Plus, the Railking Steamers I own are absolutely fantastic work horses.  But this one is worth a serious look because I believe it can be operated on 0-42 curves.

Berwyn Trains,

Very nice to see that you have worked with MTH on this and that the head light has been relocated.

Other questions I have, in addition to CBQ_Bill's comments:

1. This class of engine is noted as an S3 numbered 2950 to 2964, so when numbering this engine, it should be within that number group. A second batch of engines, 2965 to 2974 were also included in this class but had a shorter cabs.

2. Will it have a Worthington Feedwater Heater on the fireman's side, left? All the S-3's had it.

3. Is MTH going to provide the "square" tender that had the ability to lift the back of the coal bunker so that the coal would slide forward? As shown in the prototype photo you included. The drawing shows a standard USRA tender that was not used on the S-3 class engines.

Don't get me wrong, what you are doing to represent a Q model, is wonderful. I know these are toy trains and sometimes some liberties are taken to take a standard model and letter it for many different road names.

I'm most likely in the minority, as the Q does not carry the same popularity rating as the UP, NYC, SP, PRR, and others from MTH or Lionel. But when it comes to Q motive power, I personally like to see something that is more accurate than the typically run of steam engines with just the Q logo on the side of the tender.

If the MTH version will have some of the corrections as noted by CBQ_Bill and me, especially with the tender, then put me down for one.

Keep up the good work.

Ray

Thanks @IRON HORSE.  You are correct that this engine will run on curves as tight as 0-42.  Pretty nice for a small to medium o-scale engine ain't it?  But to wet your curiosity, there are SEVERAL RailKing steam engines in the works by us.  Just have to finalized the artwork........

Hello Ray-

We will try to answer your questions as best we can.

1) The number of this engine will be in the correct class as you described, without the shortened cab.

2) Is this what you are looking for?

3) We know and we tried.  Oh, did we try!  Unfortunately the short USRA tender that is pictured is what will accompany this locomotive.  Sorry.  Perhaps the heads at MTH will see this for future reference?

Hope to have your business in the future!

Thanks for you interest.

With much profound THANKS @harmonyyards!  It nice to see / be recognized the HOURS of work that go into each and every piece that we are contracted to make with MTH Trains.  We here at Berwyn's are trying to offer the best of the best when it comes to releasing our custom run products.

As a side note:  Sorry, Pat, no NYC Hudsons are on the horizon.  Maybe a S.F. one though..........

Berwyn,

Just to confirm my understanding, this MTH Q Pacific is an exclusive offering only available from Berywyn Toys & Trains ?

Thanks in advance !!!

This engine and all our custom run products are researched, designed, and paid for by Berwyn's Toys and Trains.  It will be manufactured by MTH using their required specifications.  You are more than welcome to place an order with us.

I too am a CB&Q fan, and modeling the Q in the steam to diesel transition era.  I have to echo Ray's comments from earlier in the thread, how it's always disheartening to see the CB&Q herald slapped on to the side of a tender of a model that doesn't otherwise display any CB&Q heritage.  I've been very thankful for 3rd Rail for having produced some CB&Q steam that I've been able to pick up.  It looks like you're on the right track with this custom run though, and your effort to get the details as close as possible is definitely appreciated.

Since I'm definitely considering getting one of these, is there a deadline for placing the preorder?  I'd like to see the final artwork before making a final decision, but based on what I see so far it's more likely than not I'll have to get on board for one of these!

Thanks!

@CCTSteam Thanks for your positive feedback!

There is no set deadline for placing an order on ANY of our custom run MTH products.  Everything we announce is in route to production!  No "wait-an-see" if the orders materialize and then decide to try / go ahead and make it.  Albeit, each product has only a certain number of units produced.  When the orders (preorders) hit that number then, well, we will put you on a standby list, in case one becomes available.  That is why we require a deposit on our engines - separate the men from the boys.

We understand that you cannot make a finalized decision until the full and correct artwork is posted.  We would expect the same if the tables were turned.

As a CB&Q fan, then we think you will thoroughly enjoy the MANY CB&Q engines that we have planned for.

Thanks for your interest.
