I upgraded an older Shay engine this week.
The scale speed was way off. at 1 mph it was going about 10. It was still chuffing, but the speed was way off.
I emailed MTH and was told that I needed to custom make a new tach strip with 18 bars on it, as the gear ratio had changed on the newer engines.
I made the new strip but to no avail, it was the same.
So I thought I would try more stripes, so I made a tach strip with 32 bars on it. Same result.
Anyway long story short, I replaced the boards and all is well now. Go figure!
